Patients can telephone the surgery to receive their test results over the phone without having to make an appointment to come into the surgery. We ask that patients ring after 11:00am for results to help with congestion on the telephone in the busy morning periods.
In general the results of blood tests and samples can take up to a week/5 working days after the date of the test before the practice receives the result. X-ray & ultrasound scan results take longer and can take up to 7-10 working days.
Results can only be provided after they have been reviewed by a clinician. Your results will go back to the referring clinician. This means that if your test was requested by a clinician at a hospital or other healthcare provider, the results will not be sent to The Family Surgery initially. You should contact the provider who requested your test for your results.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. All patients aged 16 years and over must ring in person.
We offer online access. If you're a patient at this practice you can now use the NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet. You can use the NHS App to check your symptoms and get instant advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record and more. If you already use a different online provider you can continue to use it. You can use the NHS App as well.
